Vision for life is excited to be part of the lens replacement evolution. Part of this evolution has been the advancements of Intraocular Lenses (IOL) which have given Vision for Life the ability to design a cataract treatment specific to your eye care needs. We don’t take a “cookie cutter” approach to your cataract treatment, which also means the cost will vary depending on what Dr. Horn and you discuss is the best solution for your lifestyle.

The cost of treating your cataracts will vary depending on the type of lens that you and Dr. Horn decide will be best for your desired vision. Your insurance will likely only cover a standard monofocal lens. A monofocal lens usually only provides clearer distance vision, but you will still need glasses for intermediate vision, near vision, as well as for any needed astigmatism correction for your distance vision. Multifocal IOLs, however, can offer you near, intermediate (arm’s length), and distance vision options with less dependence on glasses. A multifocal lens may be a better fit for your visual needs, while also better fitting your lifestyle. Multifocal lenses are generally not covered by insurance and are considered an out-of-pocket cost.

Your medical and vision insurance may cover lens replacement surgery costs but understanding your out-of-pocket expenses and the limitations of coverage can be confusing. The insurance specialists at Vision for Life can help explain your benefits.
